Western Area Power Administration Awards IT Support Contract to Centuria Corporation

Company to provide information technology support services
Centuria Corporation announced today they have been awarded a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Western Area Power Administration (Western), Rocky Mountain Region for Information Technology Support Services. The three-year contract is valued at approximately $5 million.
This contract covers support for all areas of IT including infrastructure, hardware, and software support; database management; cybersecurity; customer support and training; and IT governance and management. The work will be performed in Loveland, Colorado with a staff of approximately 19.
This project will support the marketing and delivery of reliable, cost-based hydroelectric power and related services within a 15-state region of the central and western U.S. Western is one of four power marketing administrations within the DOE whose role is to market and transmit electricity from multi-use water projects. The transmission system carries electricity from 57 power plants operated by the Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the International Boundary and Water Commission. Together, these plants have an installed capacity of 10,395 megawatts.

Centuria wins $97 Million National Weather Service IT Support Contract

DULLES, VIRGINIA – Centuria has been awarded the Mission Support Information Technology Services (MSITS) task order under the Veterans Technology Services (VETS) Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) to provide comprehensive life-cycle support for the Next Generation Radar (NEXRAD) network, operated by the National Weather Service, Federal Aviation Administration, and United States Air Force. Under this task order, Centuria will support ongoing base operations and maintenance to the nation's weather radar infrastructure to include systems integration, proprietary software development, systems and software testing, data management and systems documentation, and provide engineering support for special projects, such as radar product or system improvements and possible radar relocation. This task order has a 10-year period of performance and the ceiling value is approximately $97 million.
The Radar Operations Center, headquartered in Norman, Oklahoma, provides national and international weather radar data used by the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, Department of Transportation and Department of Homeland Security as well as radio and television stations across the country. The NEXRAD network of 167 weather radar sites forms the foundation of all national weather forecasting, and collects data for extreme weather notification and safety systems, military operations, and emergency management systems. NEXRAD data is also used by the FAA as an overlay on flight radar to enhance flight safety.
To date Centuria has received 169 million in total awards under the VETS contract making Centuria one of the most successful VETS awardees.

Centuria was awarded a fixed price contract from the Department of Veteran Affairs to provide wireless mobile support services for over 5000 wireless users in the Washington, DC. Metropolitan area for the next year with options for 4 more years. This award is a follow-on to Centuria’s previous support contract at VA and represents a doubling of staff and increase in scope of work. Mr. Levine joins Centuria at a crucial time. As we search for acquisition targets Rich is the last piece of the puzzle in fully maturing our internal processes and management platform. Mr. Levine has been a Senior Vice President and CFO for various defense contractors in the engineering services and IT industry, prior to joining Centuria. Rich has a history of revamping business departments, building new corporate infrastructure, leading aqusititions and creating strong financials, including positive cash flow. He was nominated by Chevy Chase Bank as CFO of the year (2009), which was subsequently awarded by Smart/CEO magazine as a finalist.
As CFO and Executive Vice President of Coleman Research Corporation, his strategic and tactical leadership guided the company through a 15-year growth period. Rich negotiated, established, and reviewed financial performance goals and objectives. He directed the organization’s merger and acquisitions, negotiating price and terms and conditions, and managed the transition of personnel, contracts and systems.
Rich holds an MBA from Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island and B.S. in accounting from Husson College in Bangor, Maine.

Joining the company’s founder and CEO, Mr. Kevin Burke, is Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Tim Green.
Mr. Green will lead the operations group of Centuria, freeing up Centuria’s CEO to hunt for acquisition targets to further propel Centuria’s growth.
Mr. Green brings more than 20 years of experience in the federal market delivering engineering, biomedical and IT services. He will focus on driving sustainable growth and facilitating organizational maturity through uninterrupted delivery of services and continued customer satisfaction. Prior to joining Centuria, Tim held senior leadership positions at SAIC and Apogen Technologies, a QinetiQ North America company where he oversaw extreme growth in his project areas, and was involved in several key acquisitions. As an Executive Vice President at Apogen Technologies, Tim led the Defense Services Group during its growth from $40M to over $90M during a four year period. He was later selected to stand up and establish a new Federal Civilian business – a growth market for the company. Tim holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Centuria moved into its new Headquarters on the top floor of the Corporate Office Park at Dulles Town Center at 21000 Atlantic Blvd, Dulles. The building, a local landmark, visible for miles, lies just south of the Route 7 and Route 28 interchange, making it a mile east of the planned Dulles World Trade Center and less than a mile north of AOL. The new space almost triples Centuria's previous footprint in Sterling and was designed to increase Centuria's overall management footprint, human resources capabilities and proposal capabilities in response to increasingly rapid growth.

As discussed in the GSA quarterly VETS Briefing on January 17th, after almost a full year since the notice to proceed was issued to the VETS contract awardees over 240 million has been awarded to 22 VETS Companies. Centuria's Forest Service Contract of over 72 million comprises 30% of all awarded dollars on the historic vehicle. The Forest Service win was all about longevity and success within a client base. “We have been providing services to the Forest Service I-Web program since 1997. We had the relationships with other key vendors and the knowledge of the client that allowed us to be successful on this bid” said Kevin M. Burke, Centuria President.
