Each year the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is run to honor the victims and survivors of the Murrah building bombing in 1995. This year, Bill Deringer and his wife Jayne, Art Bauer, and Brandy Bauer volunteered as Course Marshals. They were assigned to specific street intersections along the race route primarily to control traffic in order to keep the runners moving safely and uninterrupted. They also provided encouragement and, if needed, assistance to the runners as they passed by.
“There’s a lot of cheering and clapping and shouting encouraging words,” commented Brandy Bauer. “We all really enjoyed marshalling and look forward to doing it next year.”
