Centuria Announces Hybrid Work Initiative

November 2, 2021

The ever-advancing collaborative tools and technologies available to a modern workforce were truly put to the test in the face of the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic. The world demonstrated that people do not need to be at the office for eight hours a day, day in and day out, to be productive. Those long months of enforced remote work showed us just how creative, dedicated, and responsible Centuria’s workforce is. It is because of their efforts that Centuria continued to provide high-quality support for our clients during exceptionally challenging times, and for that Centuria is truly grateful.

Some of our staff have expressed a desire to get back to the office as part of the return to normalcy. Many, however, have relayed that, with busy lives and long commutes, they feel more comfortable and able to meet the challenges work brings from the comfort of their own home, a coffee shop around the corner, or wherever in the world they so choose. It is because of these conversations, and the unmitigated successes Centuria achieved together during the pandemic, that we are formalizing this initiative to ensure we can all continue to do our best work, each and every day.

Juan Hernandez, President of Centuria, said, “We hire great people, focus on our missions, and hold each other accountable. We believe in collaboration and teamwork and foster those qualities any way we can. This initiative is designed to provide the maximum amount of freedom and flexibility to our employees in the performance of their duties.”

Centuria’s ANYWHERE WORKS policy affirms that any Centuria employee may work from anywhere they choose, as long as they are not required to be onsite by the customer and have received approval from their Centuria supervisor. This hybrid approach means our people can be at the office as little, or as much as they wish. Whether that be 3 days a week, 2 days a month, or 1 day a year, ultimately what works best for our people, is what works best for Centuria.

Centuria, a leading provider of Information Technology, Scientific, and Engineering professional services to the Federal Government, is proud to announce that it has successfully completed its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 assessment conducted by a Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO). This achievement demonstrates Centuria’s ongoing commitment to cybersecurity, risk management, and the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in support of Department of War and Federal Government missions. CMMC Level 2 is a critical cybersecurity standard for Defense Industrial Base organizations that handle CUI. The assessment evaluates an organization’s implementation of the required security controls and practices designed to protect sensitive Government information and strengthen cybersecurity across the Federal supply chain. “Successfully completing our CMMC Level 2 C3PAO assessment is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and professionalism of our team,” said Rakesh Patel, Chief Operating Officer (COO). “As CMMC becomes a mandatory requirement for Department of War contractors, Centuria is proud to be prepared to meet that standard and continue serving our customers with the security, reliability, and trust they expect.” The assessment process involved a thorough review of Centuria’s cybersecurity policies, procedures, technical controls, system security documentation, and operational practices. For more than 37 years George Blaisdell served as a civil servant providing snow and ice technical expertise to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) and the National Science Foundation’s Office of Polar Programs (NSF/OPP). After a truly rewarding career, George retired in 2016. But George wasn’t done. In 2021, George joined Centuria to support the McMurdo station sea-ice runway in Antarctica. Recently returning from his 35th field deployment to Antarctica where he performed glacier snow and ice studies for the National Science Foundation’s Office of Polar Programs. These studies are critical in ensuring the continued ability and reliability of the runway to support wheeled aircraft as large as the 500,000lb C-17 Globemaster. Using his extensive experience from other cold weather region activities in support of U.S. and allied interests in Alaska and Greenland where George endured extreme weather conditions in remote environments under demanding time schedules, George was able to test hypothesis in real-time field conditions gaining insight into the condition, stability, and continued relevancy of this critical national asset.
